Jazz Galore Tonight!... and Next Wednesday

After a relatively quiet summer there will be an explosion of jazz activity this Friday (Aug. 1) evening.

Rob Walker (trumpet) and the Great Riff Jazz Society (Tony Bowler-drums, Adam Crofts-bass, Michael Frew-guitar) will perform from 6:00-9:00pm at Rudy's - A Cook's Paradise (147 Main Ave. W) for their monthly "First Friday" event.

Pandora's restaurant will feature the Brent Jensen Trio (Jensen-sax, Aaron Miller-bass, Lael Cherry-drums) from 7:00-10:00pm. No cover charge.

and then next Wednesday…..

Pandora's will be presenting Ascension’s old friends Jim & Sarah McMahon on Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 6:00-9:00pm.  Stop by and say "hi" to these great musicians (and Twin Falls natives) while they are in town for the summer (they teach and perform in North Dakota).

Ascension Café Open This Sunday

Parishioner Dave Duhaime will complete his tour as Ascension Café host this Sunday, August 3rd, @ 9AM.  Join David and Café regulars to consider the topic “Reintroducing “And” ”.

Crayons, Et Al

It’s that time again!  School starts in August, and that means that Ascension will once again “reach out” to our area’s economically disadvantaged school children.  During the first three weeks of August, we will be able to help by bringing basic school supplies such as pencils, pens, glue, markers, crayons rulers, paper, etc. to the basket in the narthex.  This is one of the many ways that we at Ascension have chosen to make Christ’s love felt in our community.

Health Initiatives Open House

The Twin Falls Health Initiatives Trust invites interested folk to an Open House being held at the CSI Herrett Center on August 5th from 4 – 7PM.  The Open House  is being held for the purpose of providing exciting information about upcoming grant opportunities that will support health, wellness and education within Twin Falls County. A presentation begins at 5:30PM.  For more information, contact Misti Lockie at 208-410-3633 or by email at info@twinfallshealthinitiativetrust.org.

Hi Ho!  Off To Camp We Go!

The Heart of the Diocese Camp will be especially fun this year with many of our own Ascension folks joining with others around the deanery for a weekend of hiking, canoeing, island hopping, fishing, reading, sunbathing, napping, worshiping, eating, sitting, relaxing, nodding off – the list goes on and on.  You can do as much or as little as you please.  Camp will be held August 7 – 10.  The sign-up sheets are filling up so be sure to stop by the drinking fountain bulletin board and add your name.

The READS! program comes to camp.  Fr. Shawn from Emmanuel Church in Hailey will lead a discussion on the book Here if You Need Me by Kate Braestrup.  It is available at Costco, Barnes and Noble or Amazon.com.  So, if you are coming to camp, pick up a copy and join us.
